On Sunday, April 29 at 3:00 p.m. the Piedmont Virginia Community College Chorus will return to the V. Earl Dickinson stage to present its annual spring concert. No tickets are required.

The theme of this year’s performance is “On the Lighter Side,” and the concert will include a repertoire of popular show tunes. The concert will also feature two pieces, “Look At The World,” and “Home Is A Special Kind of Feeling,” by British composter John Rutter. There will also be an a cappella rendition of “Bill Bailey, Won’t You Please Come Home?” which was originally written in 1902 by American songwriter and pianist, Hughie Cannon. Other well-known pieces, like “Moon River,” “Bridge Over Troubles Water” and “The Wind Beneath My Wings,” are sprinkled throughout the program. A collection of songs from the Broadway musical “West Side Story” will complete the performance.

The PVCC Chorus is composed of around 60 members ranging from students who recently completed high school to senior citizens. The broad variety of students equipped with different levels of experience brings depth to the choral group taking the one credit class. The PVCC chorus has put together many different programs over the years from an “All Beatles” concert to an anniversary fête of the famous musical “The Sound of Music.” The chorus welcomes new members every semester, and no audition is required.
