PVCC Comes Together at Club Sign-Up Day

Campus News Clubs Events

On Sept. 3, I had the privilege of participating in Club Sign-Up Day at PVCC. From noon to 2 p.m., students had the opportunity to visit the Woodrow W. Bolick Advanced Technology and Student Success Center and explore the various clubs that are offered through the college. These clubs included categories such as Faith & Fellowship, Arts & Expression, Academic & Career, Special Interests & Hobbies, Culture & Identity, Leadership & Service, and Sports & Recreation.

Elias Atwell, the president of the Art Club, said, “Club Sign Up Day is a really exciting experience; it’s a time where I can find my people within the PVCC community.”

Club Sign Up Day allows club officers and members to show enthusiasm for their clubs and the work they have done. This is reflected as they communicate face-to-face and engage in one-on-one conversations with students and faculty. President of the French Club Rachael Pond agrees, saying, “Club Sign Up Day is a great opportunity to meet students, peers and teachers, a time we can share in the comradery here at PVCC.”

This event is also an excellent opportunity to start networking. Being able to meet other students and faculty members such as President Dr. Jean Runyon, Vice President of Student Affairs Andrew Renshaw, and the Marketing and Communications team. At many of the displays, there were numerous PVCC professors, club officers, and club members engaging with students.

According to Mary-Evelyn Sellers, the Student Life and Campus Engagement Coordinator for PVCC, “We had record numbers in attendance this year for Club Sign Up Day.  We outgrew the Bolick Event Center and had to stage nine clubs in the hallway, outside of the Bolick Event Center doors.”

The purpose of Club Sign Up Day is for students to leave with new connections, ideas on what club(s) to join, and a better understanding of the vibrant campus life available to them at PVCC. Club Sign-Up Day truly embodies the spirit of PVCC by proving that it is a place where students can explore their passions, find their tribe, and grow both personally and academically. I’m grateful to have been part of such a meaningful event and look forward to seeing the new friendships and collaborations that will blossom in the year to come. Here’s to a fantastic year of student engagement, leadership, and discovery!

If students are interested in learning more about the clubs offered at PVCC, they can find a list of clubs and their links under the colleges website under Campus Life, subsection Student Clubs. You can reach out to club officers via their student emails (listed under most club links), or there will be another Club Sign-Up Day during the spring semester of 2026.
